Watching the rescue going on at Miami…

Ever since the collapse of the 12-story beachfront condominium Champlain Towers South in Miami, Florida on June 24, people in China have followed closely the progress of the rescue, counting the days, survivors and the still missing, just like people in America. The difference is that the Chinese, especially on Weibo, expressed disappointment and disbelief at the deficiency of the rescue, as compared with the high efficiency in everything done in China. They came up with a term to describe it as “Archeological style rescue.” If the Chinese had believed America was in decline, the Miami building collapse and rescue gave them more material, just as the power outages in Texas did.
